MALIBU—Actress Tracey Bregman Recht has portrayed Lauren Fenmore on “The Young and the Restless” since the early 1980s. Tracey is considered Hollywood royalty. Her father was the famed Buddy Bregman and her mother is actress Susan Lloyd. Tracey is a married mother of two, who also works very hard with local charities. Whenever she has the time, she mentors young people around Los Angeles. In May of this year, Tracey and film icon Ann Rutherford, who starred in films such as “Gone With The Wind,” were both honored by the Young Musicians Foundation for dedication to bringing music to underprivileged youth in L.A.

“Tracey is an enigmatic and beautiful woman, who is very talented. I’ve loved working with her these past two plus decades on ”˜Y&R’ and I think she makes wonderful choices in her acting,” said costar Doug Davidson. “I always am excited whenever I get to work with her. We’ve played friends, husband and wife, enemies, you name it. She is a dynamic actress and a wonderful friend and person.”

I recently caught up with the Malibu-based actress and spoke about her life, career and her family. Fans of the number-one rated daytime drama “The Young and the Restless” have watched Lauren battle Sheila Carter, a demonic force that seemed unstoppable, until Lauren shot her in the heart after being stalked by the villain for decades. They’ve watched Lauren be kidnapped earlier this year by Sheila’s sister Sarah, who Lauren also shot and battle her new-found sister Jill Foster Abbott over the billion dollar empire owned by the young beauty Lauren Fenmore. Fans and peers know her as Tracey E. Bregman, her stage name. “I love Maria Bell’s choices as a writer and producer, Tommy. She’s really made Lauren so exciting to play,” said the actress.

Exciting is an understatement. Bregman-Recht and her on-screen alter ego are exciting if nothing else. The beautiful actress laughed when I told her that most actresses who had her storyline this year would be challenged beyond words. “The biggest challenge for me this year was playing twins and keeping both characters different. Actually, I felt that there were three characters and at one time four. Lauren, Sarah, Sarah playing Lauren and then when Lauren played Sarah. Each had their own voice depth and movements. Most of it played in the eyes as well. Also, learning an entire scene from both sides was very different,” stated Recht.

Playing so many characters is not easy, but Tracey makes it seem that way. Millions of fans have watched with amazement as Tracey turns into such an incredible actress. When we spoke last week, Tracey continued to praise her fans, and that’s just who she is. “The fans have been so amazing and they mean so much to me. I’ve been able to converse with a lot of them through Facebook. Yes, Tommy, I beat you by joining the social media long before you did,” said Tracey.

Being the daughter of legends and the great-niece of composer Jules Styne, Tracey really embraces her family. She and her handsome husband Ronald have been married since 1987. Their two sons are Austin and Landon. Austin as an infant portrayed Lauren’s son Scotty in the ’90s on “Y&R.” When asked if the acting bug has bitten him, as it has Tracey and so many others in her family, Tracey beamed when she concluded, “Tommy, my young son just started acting classes, so it will be very interesting to see what he does!”
