STUDIO CITY—Tree trimers caused a power outage that affected hundreds of customers in Studio City on Tuesday, August 14. At around 9:50 a.m., officials from the Los Angeles Fire Department were initially called to the 11400 block of Moorpark Street to investigate a reported explosion that resulted in visible smoke rising from a man hole.

According to an official LAFD alert, there was no underground explosion.

“Tree trimmers caused downed power lines which impacted a transformer and likely caused some smoke visible from a man hole cover,” read the alert from the LAFD.

The impacted transformer left electrical service interrupted. An LADWP representative told Canyon News that the outage left 281 customers without power and the estimated restore time was 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
