HOLLYWOOD —Sunday night’s episode of “Treme” was titled “Shallow Water, Oh Mama.” There was nothing shallow about the storytelling or the acting of this series. In fact “Treme” is becoming one of the most mesmerizing and entertaining dramas on cable TV.
As the episode began, Toni tracked down a former cop in search of clues about Daymo. Toni is a character that is finally growing on the viewers. Davis began raising his profile on the streets and on TV. It’s fascinating to see how Davis is savvy enough to realize the media is the way to make or break a mission or a career. Too bad some of New Orleans real-life politicians and law enforcement authorities did not realize the value of having the media on the scenes of the disaster immediately after Katrina. Possibly they could have encouraged and ultimately convinced a lot more private businesses to make investments in the communities that were devastated by the flooding when the levees failed and would not have had to depend solely on taxpayers of the U.S.
Delmond toured while Antoine toiled, Janette considered suspending operations, Albert vented about the lack of tribe lodging, Sonny crossed a line with Annie, and this relationship will never be the same. The Bernettes made a splash at the Krewe du Vieux parade. The Bernettes surely got my attention and that of others. Johnnie Banks, a new viewer says, “I was sure to use my DVR to record the shows previously and now I’m catching up and the series surely is growing on me.” Reader Ann says, “I have always wanted to visit New Orleans. I’m learning a lot and maybe one day, I can visit.”
