HOLLYWOOD —HBO will be running an encore of season two of “True Blood” starting Sunday the 21st. Fans of the Bon Temps citizens, which include a mind-reader, vampires, resident shape shifter, over-sexed hick and all sorts of dysfunctional people can relive the melodrama and if you missed the early presentation of Maryann, who later became the most frightening villain in TV history, chances are you’ll enjoy the first episodes.

Within the first few episodes the viewers get the buildup of some of the characters in the extraordinarily talented cast that we started to fall in love with in the first season.

Tara played by Rutina Wesley becomes more of a force to be reckoned with. After growing up the daughter of an alcoholic she finds herself stumbling in the same path of her mother, who she often shows disdain and distrust. Sookie, played by Oscar-winner Anna Paquin is often torn between love and family and doesn’t seem to be able to keep all the handsome men away from herself. Both the vampire Bill Compton and her shape-shifting boss Sam Merlotte have feelings for her and they vie for her attention and affection on a regular basis.

Jason Stackhouse played by Aussie actor Ryan Kwanten is obsessed with sex, not love and just happens to fall into one trap after another. During the second season, Jason became a victim of a religious cult, but by season’s end, he manages to redeem himself in the eyes of all he loves including himself. Eric played by strikingly handsome Swedish star Alexander Skarsgard made a great impression on fans in 2009 during season two. Alan Ball seems to have realized early on that this man can act. Known in Hollywood as one of the most magnanimous and kind men on the planet, he is also very fan friendly and enjoys his newfound stardom in America.

Stephen Moyer who portrays Bill Compton has a legion of fans as well. They find themselves watching his every move, both on-air and in real life, and the fact that Moyer fell in love with his on-screen leading lady Anna Paquin is a testament to life imitating art and having a great positive ending to a storyline, both on and off-screen. Season two in my opinion became so popular because the residents —sometimes friends and foes —managed to defeat the evil force Maryann possessed, and they all came out scathed by her treachery. The embodiment of evil was defeated in season two; however, the storyline as it unfolded was magnificent and exciting. Here’s your chance to relive the excitement all over again.
