HOLLYWOOD —Sunday night’s episode of “True Blood” should have been called “Kick Butt!” Jason and Godric both came out victorious in an encore episode that fans found very exciting and well worth reliving all over again. “Time Bomb” was my favorite episode of the season last year and it was just as exciting the second time around. Having saved Sookie, Godric ordered Eric to leave the premises with her and to do so peacefully. “Do not shed any blood,” Eric’s maker ordered him.

Unfortunately, Reverend Steve Newlin and his followers were waiting for them in the Church and he wasn’t too choosy as to which vampire they use for their sunrise ceremony. Planning to roast a vampire up on the alter at daybreak, Eric offered himself in place of his maker, Godric. Godric, however, had other plans; he tried a different approach and hoped to make peace with Steve, who adamantly opposed any such possibility. In an big action scene Godric chose peace over slaughtering the church members and their preacher and upon freeing Eric from death by fire, he ordered his vampire followers to leave with him.

Safely returned to their lair, Godric’s peaceful approach and lack of desire for revenge didn’t sit well with some of his followers. Steve also has a surprise for him. One of the reverend’s followers arrived at the lair with a time bomb strapped to himself in order to kill as many vampires as possible.

Back home in Bon Temps, Eggs told Tara that he’d blacked out again and they tried to piece together where he’d been. Maryann, who has total control over Eggs, had him murder Daphne, and she used the blond shape shifter’s heart to prepare a special dish for Eggs and Tara. Sam Merlotte found himself under arrest when Daphne’s body was found in the restaurant freezer. The only witness he had on his side was Deputy Andy, who has no credibility at the moment with his boss or the sheriff’s department. His words of support for Sam’s plight fell on deaf ears. Having finally slept together, Jessica and Hoyt discovered a disadvantage to Jessica being a vampire. The scene is too hilarious to describe to anyone who hasn’t watched the show. Season 2 will be available on DVD on March 25. That’s your chance to see it all.
