BEVERLY HILLS—White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed that President Donald Trump will visit California next week. The President’s agenda includes attending a fundraiser in Beverly Hills where tickets for the event start at $35,000 and can reach as high as $250,000 per ticket. Vice President Mike Pence made a similar trip to the state in October 2017.
Trump is expected to head south to San Diego to visit the border, where he plans to discuss the promise he made during his campaign run to build a wall and to review wall prototypes.
The president’s trip to California comes over a year after his inauguration, which breaks from a decades-long presidential tradition. Every US president since Dwight Eisenhower made a visit to California within their first year in office. This visit will happen just a week after the United States Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the state for enacting protective sanctuary laws.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, national finance chairman Todd Ricketts and deputy national finance chairman Elliott Broidy will host the fundraiser.
