SANTA MONICA—Santa Monica’s 30th Annual Twilight Concerts returns on July 10. The event features one artist or band every Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. until September. Alongside every performer, a KCRW DJ will also be apart of the Twilight Concerts.

 

According to the KCRW website, “KCRW creates and curates a unique mix of content centered around music discovery, NPR news, cultural exploration and informed public affairs. KCRW is driven by the spirit of Los Angeles and delivers in innovative ways – on the radio, digitally and in person – to diverse, curious communities around the corner and around the world.”

“[The] KCRW has a history of bringing unique life experiences to Southern California and around the country — whether concerts with musical talent, or conversations between our hosts and the world’s leading thinkers and creators,” the KCRW website states. The events the KCRW has participated in include KCRW’s World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, KCRW’s Annual Event “Summer Nights” as well as “KCRW Presents.” KCRW also broadcasts various music festivals including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, SXSW, and the Sundance Film Festival.

 

Kicking off the Twilight Concerts is the Cults with James Supercave and KCRW DJ Marion Hodges. On July 17, Yuna with King and KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez will be performing; followed by Cayucas/Papa and KCRW DJ Chris Muckley on July 24 and ending the month of July will be Omar Soulyeman with De Lux and KCRW DJ Aaron Byrd on July 31.

 

For the month of August, Jagwar Ma with Fascinator and KCRW DJ Jason Bentley will be performing on August 7, followed by La Santa Cecilia with Sergio Mendoza y La Orkesta and KCRW DJ Raul Campos. The Zombies with Mystic Braves and KCRW DJ Dan Wilcox will perform on August 21, closing August will be Lee “Scratch” Perry with Mexico 68 and KCRW DJ Jeremy Sole.

 

For the month of September, OK GO will be performing along with Allah-Las on September 4 and Charles Bradley with King James and The Special Men will be performing on September 11.
