SANTA MONICA—Officers from Santa Monica Police Department’s Vice Unit conducted a minor decoy operation on December 30, 2019 with the help from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to confirm compliance at alcohol retail establishments within the region.

The Minor Decoy Program utilizes supervised individuals under the age of 20 who attempt to purchase alcohol at licensed premises. The project is part of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s Alcohol Policing Partnership Program.

The five establishments visited by Vice and the Department of Beverage Control used proper protocol as the minor was denied alcohol at each location. Any sale of alcohol to a minor may result in criminal and administrative sanctions for the employee and the licensee.

The following locations engaged in responsible sales of alcohol by asking for the decoy’s age, identification and refusal to sell alcohol upon determining the minor was under 21:

-Vons Market located at 1311 Wilshire Blvd.

-CVS Pharmacy located at 1932 Wilshire Blvd.

-Bristol Farms located  3105 Wilshire Blvd.

-BevMo! located at 3212 Wilshire Blvd.

-Rite Aid located 1331 Wilshire Blvd.
