VI’S CORNER: “FRECKLES”

BEVERLY HILLSI don’t think that you’ll need more than one guess as to why I was named Freckles!  Seeing that you know that one thing about me, I’ll tell you a little more.
I’m another one of those unfortunate strays.  However, I consider myself very fortunate, now.  Someone found me and brought me here, to the Friends of Animals Foundation, where I’m well taken care of and have made lots of kitty and human friends.  Even if I’m never adopted (but, of course, I hope that I will be), I’ll have a home for my whole life.  So, how lucky can I be?

I’m a little boy about five years old.  I’m kind of shy at first, but, please, give me a chance, as when I get to know you, you’ll see how sweet and loving I can be.  I hope that you’ll call to see me, because I’d really like to belong to that special person, and if you already have a cat that would like a friend, I’d like that, too.
Seeing that there’s nothing else to tell you about myself, how about me telling you some interesting facts about us cats?  For instance, did you know that the word “ailurophilia” (whew!), means “the love of cats”? Do they really need a twelve letter word to describe the love of a three letter word?
A group of kittens is called a “kindle.”  No, they’re not related to the electronic reading device of the same name!  And a group of grown cats is called a “clowder.”
A single pair of cats and their kittens can have as many as 420,000 kittens in 7 years!  So, please, have us spayed and neutered. They all won’t end up as lucky as I’ve been.
Do you know that we spend about 16 hours a day sleeping?  Yeh, I guess you do.  But we do spend 30 percent of the time that we’re awake grooming ourselves, so that we’ll be pretty for you.
The average age of an indoor cat is 15 years, and the average age of an outdoor cat is only 3 to 5 years.  So, please, keep us indoors where we will be safe and can live a long life, which, in many cases, is more than 15 years.
I’ll leave you with the fact that people that have pets live longer and have less stress. So, won’t you adopt me so that I can help you live that healthy, stress free life?
Be sure to have your friends check out our website at: foafla.petfinder.com, so that they can find a dog or cat that will help them live a healthier life, too.
