BEVERLY HILLS—A water main break in Beverly Hills damaged multiple streets on January 8. The incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. when a six-inch cast iron pipe built in 1924 ruptured in the alley near Wilshire and Robertson

A Steinway Piano Gallery encountered the bulk of the damage, but since the business was in the midst of renovation no pianos were harmed.

Officials were able to restrict water flow in about an hour. Some businesses near the alley encountered water leaks, but were still able to open for business. A section of the alley is still closed until street repairs are made.

Normal water service was restored to businesses and residents by 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 8.
