WEST HOLLYWOOD—A recent report by the state Department of Finance has revealed that last year West Hollywood saw an increase in population and new housing units.

The population from January 1, 2014 through January 1, 2015 increased 2.1 percent. The growth marks the highest population increase in WeHo since 2010. From 2014, there was an increase of 735 new residents in WeHo. That number is more than than half of the 1,426 residents since 2010.

In addition to population increase, 414 new housing units were built in the city within the past year. At a 1.6 percent increase, the 414 units from last year make up 76 percent of 546 units built since 2010. The new housing consists of apartments and condos with 5 or more units has aided in population growth.

The Los Angeles County in general has seen a population increase. Beverly Hills, Culver City, La Verne and the City of Los Angeles are all experiencing population growth.
