WEST HOLLYWOOD—On May 1, the city of West Hollywood was presented with a first place award for Best Government Social Media Campaign for their “Alice in WeHoLand” Youtube safety video.

The Government Social Media Conference & Expo presented WeHo with a Golden Post Award. GSMCON is the first social media conference for government agencies in the U.S. Their goal is to recognize efforts by government agencies for their use of social media to benefit the lives of citizens in their region.

The Alice in WeHoLand music video promotes pedestrian and driver safety in our digital age of handheld distractions. The lyrics focus on pedestrians being more alert as they enter crosswalks, and motorists responsibility in avoiding the use of handheld devices while driving.

The video features an array of cast members including dancers, models and actors in a spin-off of Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” music video. It was produced by the City of West Hollywood’s Public Information Division. Todrick Hall, an “American Idol” semi-finalist helped create the vision for the video, which features vibrant and colorful costumes, lyrics and dance choreography all featured in WeHo.
