WEST HOLLYWOOD—The City of West Hollywood announced on Wednesday, October 20, that it has launched an initiative aimed at improving relations between residents, businesses and the filming industry within the community.

The initiative was brought about due to recent changes in the city’s filming policies and fees, which are intended to make West Hollywood’s filming policies and procedures more like those in neighboring communities. Although the changes were intended to benefit the filming industry while also protecting the rights of residents, the city received feedback from the filming community that many were not aware of the new terms.

One of the main goals of the meeting will be to facilitate new methods for communication and coordination between the parties involved. The city staff will also seek to inform residents and businesses about the importance of the filming industry in the city. The filming industry helps promote tourism in the area and contributes heavily to the local economy, according to the City of West Hollywood press release.

“We pride ourselves on being the Creative City, so it’s important to make sure we’re working well with this great creative industry,” says Councilmember Lindsey Horvath, who heads the initiative. “Our intention is not to have filming on every corner, but rather to have a balanced and welcoming approach to filming in West Hollywood.”

A premier filming location in the Los Angeles area, West Hollywood has been the filming site of many successful television and film productions such as”America’s Next Top Model,” “Entourage,” “Collateral” and “Erin Brockovich.”For more information, please contact Councilmember Lindsey Horvath at 323-848-6543.
