WEST HOLLYWOOD—Metro is inviting members of all communities to contribute input regarding the Crenshaw/LAX Northern Extension rail line on Tuesday, October 22 at Plummer Park in West Hollywood from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Northern Extension will allow access from the Crenshaw/LAX rail line into Mid-City, West Hollywood, and the Metro Red Line station at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood.

The West Hollywood Advocates for Metro Rail (WHAM), stated that,”The Crenshaw Line Northern Extension will create an important north-south connection from LAX and Inglewood through West Hollywood to Hollywood & Highland, where it will connect with the Red Line. By connecting five Metro Rail lines from the South Bay through the San Fernando Valley, this key project will transform regional mobility. This level of connectivity through the most congested part of Los Angeles is expected to produce the highest ridership of any light rail line in the country with over 90,000 daily boardings and ripple effects across the entire Metro Rail system.”

The line will provide rail transit to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the Beverly Center, Hollywood & Highland, Universal Studios and more.

The city of West Hollywood and its coalition partners, WHAM, and the All on Board Coalition have indicated that they are advocating for the Northern Extension to be completed in 2028 to be in time for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and Paralympics. The original date of completion is 2047.

Metro has released the video ‘Crenshaw Northern Extension – Overview’ on the Metro Los Angeles YouTube Channel highlighting the project. It is available for viewing at  https://youtu.be/w21PlAUafZU.
