NORTH HOLLYWOOD—A woman in her 60s was killed after a car landed on her while she was on the sidewalk waiting for the bus near a CVS parking lot around 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, KTLA news first reported.

The driver of a BMW who was driving at a high rate, ran a red light on northbound Vineland Avenue before striking a vehicle traveling southbound that was turning onto 11000 block of Victory Boulevard. The driver of the BMW flew off the road smashing into the CVS sign, then crashing into a parked car before bouncing on top of the victim.

Onlookers and witness attempted to remove the car off of the victim who was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The name of the victim has not yet been disclosed to the public.

Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. David Delgado told reporters an investigation is underway to determine if the driver of the BMW was intoxicated during the crash. “The BMW went into the air, when it hit curb and carried a significant distance, until it hit a parked car,” said Sgt. Delgado.

The driver of the BMW sustained minor injuries during the crash.
