MALIBU—A pair of accidents that took place within a quarter-mile of each other grounded traffic running through Malibu on Pacific Coast Highway to an abrupt halt on Saturday, June 6.

Both accidents involved Los Angeles County Fire Department Vehicles.

The first crash, occurring at approximately 1 p.m. on PCH near Zumirez Drive, was a two-car accident between a fire truck and another vehicle.

Per Los Angeles County Fire Department officials, the fire truck involved was not responding to an emergency call at the time of the accident.

Two people were airlifted to a local hospital from the Malibu scene with undisclosed injuries.

The second crash, which took place east of Winding Way, was another two-car accident between a civilian vehicle and a paramedic vehicle responding to the scene of the first crash.

The two combined accidents necessitated the temporary closure of all PCH lanes between Paradise Cove Road and Zumirez Drive, a closure that remained in effect until 5 p.m.

To date, the condition of the wounded victims has not been disclosed to the public.
