SANTA MONICA—Golden Globe nominated actor Tobey Maguire has purchased a home in Santa Monica on the popular street of North Wilshire.

Maguire purchased the home for $2.7 million with his wife, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer. The house is a 2,400 square foot Spanish-inspired home, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Included in the home is a great room that consists of a living room, a dining room and a family room. It also houses a full-equipped kitchen and an expansive porch.

The home was originally built back in the 1920s, but it was recently upgraded by architect Ruben Ojeda. A second story was added by Ojeda, which included raising the ceiling to 22 feet, turning the little bungalow into a decent-sized home. The listing online stated that the home consisted of “hexagonal floor tile and ceramic pedestal sinks [maintaining] a historical context, [with] the exposed structure, white walls and stainless steel appliances.”

The home also includes its own art studio, which is about 1,200 square feet and was designed by the firm Koning Eizenberg.

Maguire made his acting debut back in 1989 in the film “The Wizard,” in which he plays a goon. He is best-known for his roles in the original “Spiderman” series from 2002-2007, and the movie “The Cider House Rules” which was based on a book with the same title written by John Irving.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in the film “Brothers” in which he starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman. Maguire has two children with Meyer, to whom he has been married since September 2007. Her father is Ron Meyer, who is the president of Universal Studios. Meyer has her own jewelry company called Jennifer Meyer Jewelry.
