WEST HOLLYWOOD—Comedian Andy Dick pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor sexual battery charge inside a Los Angeles court on Friday, October 4. The case involved an Uber driver who accused the comedian of inappropriate touching.

The incident transpired on April 12, 2018 in West Hollywood when the comedian allegedly reached over the drivers seat and grabbed the driver’s crotch. The Uber driver immediately filed a report with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after the comedian grabbed him.

Dick has a history of arrests related to sexual misconduct and has been sued for several other groping accusations. In 2008, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor sexual battery charge for an incident that involved a teenage girl from Murrieta, California. Dick pulled down her shirt and bra exposing her breasts.

In June 2018, he was charged with another misdemeanor sexual battery assault and misdemeanor simple battery after a woman made an accusation of the comedian groping her as she walked by him on a Los Angeles street. Criminal charges were dismissed after the comedian agreed to complete a pretrial diversion program. Dick pled no contest and avoided jail time.

The comedian has been accused of indecent exposure on and off stage. In 2017, he was fired from the independent film “Raising Buchanan” after co-workers made allegations of inappropriate touching, licking, and sexually propositioning them, the Hollywood Reporter noted.

If the comedian is convicted, he could spend up to 180 days in county jail. Greg Risling of the LA Superior Court told Canyon News via email that Dick is due back in court on November 4, for a pretrial hearing. Risling also told Canyon News that the maximum the comedian can serve is 180 days in county jail if convicted. The comedian denied the groping allegations and explained that he may have licked people as a part of his comedy act.

Andy Dick is known for his over-the-top comedy routines and starred in the 90s TV series “News Radio.”
