HOLLYWOOD—Actor Jed Allan, known for his roles on the series “Beverly Hills, 90210” “Days of Our Lives,” and “Santa Barbara,” died on Saturday, March 9, at the age of 84.

The news was delivered by Rick Brown, Allan’s son, through the actor’s official Facebook page. He wrote that his father “died peacefully and was surrounded by his family and loved so much by us and so many others.”

Allan’s big break was in 1963, when he landed a role in the cast of the daytime soap opera “General Hospital,” other notable roles included appears on “The Perfect Storm,”, “Ice Station Zebra,” “Lassie,” “The Photographer” and “Zero Tolerance.”

Allan portrayed the father of Ian Ziering’s character, Steve Sanders. His passing comes just days after the death of Luke Perry, 52, who died on Monday, March 4, from complications he suffered from a massive stroke. The actor married Toby Brown in 1958; she died in 2001. Allan is survived by his three sons.

His co-star, Ian Ziering tweeted, “So sad to hear we’ve lost another 90210 castmate. I had the pleasure of working with Jed Allan from 94 to 99. He played Rush Sanders, Steve’s father. Such a great guy to work with, he will be missed. #ripjedallan.”
