LOS FELIZ—On August 23, bicyclist Jeff Jones, got into a fatal car crash on Griffith Park Boulevard, Bikinginla.com first reported. The driver of a van made a turn which caused Jones, a father in his 50s, to crash at around noon.
Jones was supposed to meet a friend at 1 p.m. A spokesperson for Assemblymember Ryu’s administration expressed concern for bike safety in a statement, but did not detail the exact policy they will enact.
“Every accident on our roads is a tragedy, and something Councilmember Ryu is working to reduce across Council District Four through intelligent road design, pedestrian and cyclist safety improvements, and campaigns coordinated to end distracted and unsafe driving,” said communications representative Mark Pampanin in a statement.
A memorial for Jones is being held at Zuma Beach on Sunday, September 8.
