Brush Fire Closes PCH In Malibu

MALIBU—Recent rainstorms have not alleviated the threat of local brush a fires, as a nine-acre blaze closed PCH in both directions for nearly three hours on Friday, March 13 on the 19400 block near Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

Firefighter crews on the ground and in the air worked to contain the damage.

Helicopters dropped loads of water from the air while ground crews cleared vegetation surrounding the brush fire, a strategy that had the blaze 80 percent contained by approximately 3 p.m.

As a result, no structures were damaged and no evacuations were ordered. PCH re-opened shortly after 3 p.m.
