UNITED STATES—Former President George H.W. Bush was transported to a Houston hospital on Tuesday, December 23  for precaution after encountering shortness of breath.

Jean Becker, Bush’s Chief Of Staff, revealed that the former president should soon be released from the hospital.

Bush previously spent almost two months in the same hospital and was released in January 2013 after being treated for a bronchitis-related cough and other health problems.

Current president Barack Obama has been notified of Bush’s hospitalization. A statement released late Tuesday by White House spokesman Eric Schultz states, “President Obama and the First Lady send their good wishes to the former President and the entire Bush family during this holiday season.”

In November, Bush was seen in a wheelchair at a Texas A&M University event with his son, former President George W. Bush.
