HOLLYWOOD—Somehow summer just flew by didn’t it? Somehow, you meant to take that European vacation, however, it just didn’t happen. Now Labor Day is upon us. Labor Day is for picnics and backyard barbeques, and a time to celebrate America’s everyday heroes-the working people.
Hollywood’s elite crowds usually travel to either London, France or Italy, while others decide to cruise the Mediterranean in their private yacht. Celebrities tend to just pick up and go on a whim. They jet off to Las Vegas, South Beach or usually the Hamptons. If you want to swim with the dolphins, then fly off to Atlantis on Paradise Island.
Fashionistas dictate strictly that Labor Day weekend traditionally marks the end of wearing white. That’s right dolls, no more white pants, shoes, dresses and bikinis. That’s why on Labor Day weekend so many people throw the white party which has been a trend for years and years, especially in the summertime. The only requirement is to wear white; sometimes these parties are taken to the next level, including drinks, desserts and decor.
This type of theme is just perfect for the holiday. You may recall a few years ago, when A-listers flew from all over the globe on their private jets to attend the biggest, grandest most exclusive event in the Hamptons. P. Diddy’s annual famous White Party which was held at Diddy’s East Hampton waterfront mansion, where Billy Joel’s wife was asked to change after arriving in a cream color dress. The year was 2007 and the event featured Polynesian dancers, painted geishas walking the grounds, a jazz band and a circus performer twirling six spinning rings. This year the place to be is the Miami Nice 2014 Annual Labor Day Weekend All White Attire Yacht Party. The event will be hosted by “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star Karlie Redd on August 30 in Miami,Florida.
Rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight, along with three other people were injuring during a shooting at a Los Angeles nightclub. Knight, 49, was believed to have stumbled out of the club after being shot six times, including in the stomach and arm. According to TMZ, the co-founder of Death Row Records was taken by ambulance to a hospital and then underwent surgery. Chris Brown was hosting a party at the 10ak club, where two others were reportedly wounded, as well.
The shooting happened as Brown hosted an unofficial pre-Video Music Awards party. MTV had no affiliation or connection to the event. Some are saying that the shooting may have been gang related, as Knight has been long connected as a member of the Bloods. Sources have noted that multiple Bloods gang members were at the party.
Knight was also shot in the leg in 2005 at an MTV VMA awards pre-party inMiami. Knight, helped make Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre music superstars in the 1990s. Knight was with Tupac Shakur back in 1996, when the rapper was shot in killed. He has had a string of run-ins with the law, and served more than four years in prison for violating probation in an assault case.
Miley Cyrus is promoting charity, by urging her fans to support homeless youth. For the campaign, Cyrus is asking fans to donate $5 through September 21, which will enter them in a raffle. Winners will meet Cyrus at her September 28 concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Miley hugged Jesse, a representative of the Hollywood homeless center My Friend’s Place, whom she sent onstage to accept her award for Video of the Year award for “Wrecking Ball” on August 24.
