SANTA MONICA—A burglary suspect attempted to evade officers from the Los Angeles Police Department by fleeing into the water, with the chase ending at the Santa Monica Pier on Tuesday, September 10. The incident transpired in the region near Ocean Front Walk and Paloma Avenue, after authorities tried to serve a warrant to the suspect for a burglary charge.

The chase began at 1:50 p.m., the suspect tried to get away by running towards the water, as officers chased after him, with a police helicopter flying overhead. The suspect was chased in the water and through the sand, before officers cornered him near the Santa Monica Pier.

He was tackled in the water by officers before being taken into custody. His name has not been disclosed to the public and details of the suspect’s burglary charges have not been revealed.
