HOLLYWOOD—Rapper Lil Wayne has received backlash after walking out on an interview with ABC and claiming no connection to the Black Lives Matter movement.

After the “Nightline” interview premiered Tuesday, November 1,  the rapper stirred controversy on social media with his comments.  When he was asked about his thoughts on the social movement, Lil Wayne responded: “just sounds weird.”

“I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothin’ to do with me,” he said.

Wayne added: “I am a young, black, rich motherf—–. If that don’t let you know that America understand black motherf—— matter these days, I don’t know what it is.”

He went on to add: “My life matter. Especially to my b——.” After being questioned further, the rapper cut the interview short and told the production crew that he isn’t a “f—— politician.”

Since the interview premiered Lil Wayne has gone on to apologize for his comments. According to TMZ, the rapper became irritated after being questioned about his daughter.

“When the reporter began asking me questions about my daughter a b—- and a h–, I got agitated. From there, there was no thought put into her questions and my responses,” Lil Wayne said to TMZ.

The rapper previously garnered media attention for comments he made on the Fox Sports show “Slip and Shannon: Undisputed,” when he was asked about his previous statements on his concert audiences being comprised of Caucasians.

“I thought that was clearly a message that there was no such thing as racism. That’s what I thought that was,” the rapper replied.
