MALIBU—Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputies and police arrived at the home of singer and actress Cher’s Malibu mansion, on Thursday, September 27. Authorities arrived to serve a search warrant and arresting Donovan Ruiz with charges of a supplying narcotics leading to a fatal overdose, a felony offense.

Ruiz, 23, who was living at Cher’s home, is suspected of selling Fentanyl to multiple users in Ventura and Los Angeles counties. One of Ruiz’s recent sales was to a resident of Thousand Oaks who died of a Fentanyl overdose in mid-September.

Deputies stated that the singer has no relation to the search warrant or the arrest. According to TMZ, Ruiz is the son of one of Cher’s assistant, but authorities have not confirmed their connection.

Following the arrest, Ruiz was taken into custody and is being held on a $500,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, October, 1 at Ventura County Superior Court.

Cher was not home at the time of the arrest. She is currently on tour in Australia. She released her latest album “Dancing Queen” on September 28 and recently appeared in the film “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” alongside Oscar-winner Meryl Streep. Cher won the Oscar for Best Actress in 1988 for her performance in the film “Moonstruck.”
