BEVERLY HILLS─Dominick Rivetti was nominated to replace Beverly Hills Police Chief Sandra Spagnoli. Members of the City Council will vote on Tuesday, May 19 at 7 p.m. to decide whether Rivetti will serve as BHPD Interim Chief.
Rivetti, who has a 40-year career in law enforcement, served as Interim BHPD Chief in 2015 after retiring as a Chief of Los Angeles District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation. He also served as a chief at San Fernando Police Department for more than 15 years.
“I am honored to once again have an opportunity to serve the Beverly Hills community,” said Rivetti in a statement. “I look forward to supporting the dedicated members of the department as they work to keep this City safe and maintain an exceptional quality of life.”
If approved by the Beverly Hills City Council, Rivetti is expected to begin work at BHPD on May 20. Before that, Assistant Chief of Police Marc Coopwood will serve as Acting Police Chief since Sandra Spagnoli, the former BHPD Chief, left her position within the department on Friday, May 15. Spagnoli joined the BHPD in 2016 from the City of San Leandro in Northern California.
“During the Chief’s tenure, crime was reduced while the department increased diversity, public outreach, best practices, and advancements in technology,” said City Manager George Chavez. “We thank Chief Spagnoli for her service to our community and her three decades of public service in law enforcement.”
“I am so pleased to welcome Dominick back to Beverly Hills,” said Chavez. “His understanding of our community and previous experience with the department will be a tremendous asset as we move forward.”
