CANOGA PARK—The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office revealed on Monday, January 7, that Reyanna Villarreal, 25, of Newhall, admitted to shooting her boyfriend to death in the parking lot of a Canoga Park bar in 2018.

Villarreal pleaded no contest to one count of involuntary manslaughter and admitted an allegation of using a firearm before Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Terrell.

Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer indicated that Villarreal is expected to be sentenced to five years in state prison under the terms of the negotiated plea agreement on January 22 in Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch.

She shot her boyfriend, Jose Mendoza, 20, on March 5, 2018 in the parking lot near a bar located on the 22000 block of Roscoe Boulevard. Mendoza was taken to a local hospital where he later died from injuries he sustained. The Los Angeles Police Department investigated the case.
