HOLLYWOOD—I can officially say it people: AWARDS SEASON IS UPON US! On Monday, December 11, the 2018 Golden Globe nominees were unveiled, and per usual there were plenty of surprises, snubs and a few headscratchers as well. Nominees were announced by actresses Alfre Woodward, Sharon Stone and Kristen Bell, and actor Garrett Hedlund.
Wow, not much love for Jordan Peele and “Get Out,” Ridley Scott, Michelle Williams and Christopher Plummer earning nominations for “All the Money in the World” shocked me. Not to mention, finally happy to see Mary J. Blige get some love for her phenomenal performance in “Mudbound.” It will be interesting to see who earn nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, as right now it seems “The Shape of the Water” is the film to beat at this point in time.
Leading the pack of all film nominees was the drama “The Shape of Water” with a total of 7 nominations, while “Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri” and “The Post” picked up 6 nominations apiece. On the television side of things it was “Big Little Lies” that earned 6 nominations, while “Feud: Bette and Joan” earned 4 nominations. A list of this year’s nominees can be seen below.
