SANTA MONICA—The Santa Monica Police Department and Fire Department will be participating in the 23rd Annual “Candy Cane Drive” which will take place on Saturday, December 19.

Santa Claus will be making an appearance at the event that will also include yuletide rounds, distribution of good cheer and thousands of candy canes.

According to a press release Sgt. Rudy Camarena from the SMPD, Santa Claus will be making stops at the following times and locations:

10:30 -11:00 am Douglas Park – California Ave & 25th Street

11:15 -11:45 am Christine Reed Park – California Ave & Lincoln Blvd

12:00 -12:30 pm Third Street Promenade & Wilshire Blvd

1:45 – 2:15 pm Virginia Avenue Park – 2200 Virginia Ave

2:30 – 3:00 pm Marine Park – Marine & 17th Street

3:15 – 3:45 pm Clover Park – Ocean Park & 25th Street

Canyon News spoke to Sgt. Rudy Camarena from the SMPD via email about the event. He noted the Chief of Police will be in attendance at the event, in addition to other volunteers and off-duty officers.

“Because we encourage officers to participate, I couldn’t give you a figure of how many personnel will be in attendance.  The event is limited to the parade and the timeline in the press release.” said Sgt. Camarena.
