LOS ANGELES—Detectives from the Theft Session of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Topanga Area are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a grand theft suspect in the San Fernando Valley.

The cellular phone theft reportedly took place just before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at a Boost Mobile location on the 19700 block of Vanowen Street in the City of Winnetka. The suspect asked a sales associate to see new iPhones. When they directed him to the phones on display, the man accused the sales associate of being racist.

After the accusation, the sales associate brought out new iPhones for the man to look at. Once in his possession, he fled the store.

That same day, just before 3:00 p.m., the suspect reportedly stole another iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy S8 from another cellular phone organization in the City of Oxnard using the same strategy.

The suspect has been described as an African American male, 22-28 years old, weighing 150-170 pounds and standing 5 feet and 11 inches tall.
