SANTA MONICA—The HBO television series “Treme” never seems to let viewers down. Fans are really taking to this drama. Canyon News reader Ann stated, “I have been a big fan of John Goodman’s work, but he really is doing an excellent job in the role he has on this show. Every week I find myself watching and this week I’m a bit sad, because there is only one episode left. I love the rich characters and the excellent writing”

On last week’s episode, Davis (Steve Zahn) concocted a remedy for the post-Mardi Gras blues. He was very successful, but I find the writer’s creativity to be better than I ever expect. Each week you are led down a different path than where you assume or predict the show is going.

Annie made a decision that Sonny took personally. Nothing Annie does surprises me. Or at least I should say, she seems to be capable of anything. Janette’s (Kim Dickens) latest chef’s gig got very bogged down in the details. Janette can’t seem to catch a real break.

Antoine (Wendell Pierce) became LaDonna’s unexpected benefactor. Though LaDonna didn’t show very much gratitude. Or maybe it’s my old-fashioned values that get in the way? Colson (David Morse) warned Albert to avoid trouble on St. Joseph’s night. Colson didn’t do a great job listening, but then again, that would be too predictable.

Creighton was magnificently inspired by a classic novel set in old New Orleans. This seems to be proof to me, that reading is fundamental to most things. Last week’s story was by David Simon and George Pelecanos. The teleplay was the work of George Pelecanos, and the fantastic episode directed by Dan Attias.
