WESTWOOD—The UCLA Bruins were defeated by Oklahoma 49-21 on Saturday, September 8. Dorian Thompson-Robinson started as quarterback for the Bruins. He replaced Wilton Speight.

The Bruins received the ball to start the game, but punted on their first possession. However, the Bruins quickly got the ball back after forcing the Sooners to punt. On their next drive, UCLA established some momentum.

On 3rd and 16, Thompson-Robinson completed a 65-yard pass to Wide Receiver Caleb Wilson. Running Back Bolu Olorunfunmi finished the drive with a 3-yard rushing touchdown. UCLA was ahead 7-0. However, Oklahoma was quick to respond.

Tre Brown returned the following kickoff for 86 yards. Running Back Rodney Anderson tied the game with a 3 -ard rushing touchdown of his own. The Sooners held on to the momentum and forced the Bruins to go three and out.

On 3rd and 14, Quarterback Kyler Murray hit Wide Receiver Marquise Brown on a post route for a 58-yard touchdown. The score was 14-7. UCLA’s next drive would end in another quick punt. On the Sooners’ next drive, Murray found Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb for 45 yards. Murray would connect with Lamb again on a 15-yard pass before running it in himself for a 10-yard touchdown. The score at halftime was 21-7.

After both teams punted on their first possessions, Oklahoma put some points on the board. Murray once again led the team down the field. He hit three different receivers and ran for a first down in the process. Running Back Marcelias Sutton took the life out of the Bruins with an 11-yard touchdown run bringing the score to 28-7.

After CeeDee Lamb returned the punt to the UCLA 11 mark, Murray finished the drive by finding A.D. Miller for a 10-yard touchdown giving the Sooners a 35-7 lead over the Bruins. The Sooners and Bruins would both score two more touchdowns apiece delivering a final score of 49-21.

QB Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) was 19/33 for 306 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT. Murray also had 10 rushes for 69 yards with 2 TDs. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson (UCLA) was 16/26 for 254 yards with 1 TD.
