BEVERLY HILLS—My name is “Mac,” and how about that smile on my face?  I have to admit that it wasn’t there when my family left me after losing their home, but I’m now one of the gang here at the Friends of Animals Foundation, and everyone is so nice to me that I can’t help but smile.  I hope that you noticed my pretty white teeth, too!
I’m a Border Collie mix about 5 years old. I would really like to be the only dog in the family, but if you have children, that’s just fine with me. I’m housebroken, neutered, have had all of my shots, and I’m micro-chipped. So, as you can see, I’m ready to be part of a family, again. I hope that you’ll call to see me!

Oh, by the way, I want to show you how smart I am by giving you a few reminders! Now that the hot weather is here, don’t give in to my sad eyes and take me with you when you leave to do errands. You know never to leave me alone in the car no matter what the weather might be, and especially when it’s hot. Even in mild weather, and with the windows partly open, the temperature inside of the car can reach a deadly temperature within minutes!! That can cause me to have brain damage –  or worse. And, you wouldn’t want that to happen to me, I’m sure.
When I’m out in the yard, remember that the sun moves around, so be sure that there will always be shady places where I can relax. I’ll need plenty of water, too, so be sure to put it in a place that will stay shady, and be sure to put it in nice big heavy bowls that won’t tip over.
I love to take walks, but let’s go in the morning before it gets hot, and in the evening when it cools off, okay? The sidewalk, and especially black top, gets so hot that it can burn the pads on my paws. Just try walking in your bare feet and you’ll see what I mean! Ouch!!!
Another thing – some of my friends have long hair, and you might think that they’ll be more comfortable to shave them down. But, please don’t do that! Leave at least an inch of their hair, as they need it for protection from the sun and from insects. Yes, we get sunburned, too. There is special sun screen for dogs that you can put on our nose and ears and whatever else is going to be exposed to the sun.
The most important thing to me is to PLEASE, just leave me inside with the air conditioning or fans on, where I will be comfortable and safe, and I will be, oh, so happy!
Don’t forget to call to see me! And have your friends check out our website at: foafla.petfinder.com to see, oh, so many other dogs and cats that need loving homes.
