WEST HOLLYWOOD—Officials from the City of West Hollywood have approved a park renovation worth $86 million. Architecture firms LPA Inc. and Rios Clementi Hale Studios will design the park renovation for the city.

The new park will include rooftop swimming pools, a “grand staircase” and multiple children’s play areas. The West Hollywood City Council and residents are interested in learning rather the renovation will include a dog park considering the animal-friendly laws the city is known for.

Resident of West Hollywood, Manny Rodriguez spoke to the City Council about the situation and stated, “We’re a city that’s really a fantastic advocate for animals. So the next logical thing to do, I think, is to have a dog park in this beautiful new park.”

The park will support and acknowledge the lives that were lost to AIDS by including a National AIDS
Monument. Although they have not yet created the monument, the city council claims it will be located near the entrance of the West Hollywood Library.

According to city documents, the renovation will begin in June 2015 and is expected to be completed by January 2018.
