LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office revealed on Thursday, December 27, a 30-year-old woman entered a no contest plea for severely injuring a 91-year-old man with a brick in Willowbrook over the summer.

Deputy District Attorney Frank Dunnick indicated that Laquisha Jones, 30, of Los Angeles entered the plea to one count of elder abuse, infliction of injury. Jones admitted allegations of using a deadly and dangerous weapon, a brick, during the commission of the crime and that she inflicted great bodily injury on the victim. Jones admitted that she was convicted in 2017 of making criminal threats.

On the evening of July 4, without provocation, Jones attacked the elderly man, without provocation who is now 92, with a brick near 118th and Robin streets in Willowbrook. After the assault, the victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The defendant fled the scene after the assault.

After conducting further investigation, law enforcement officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified Jones as the assailant and arrested her on July 10.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on February 28, 2019 where she faces 15 years in state prison. The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
