MALIBU—Actor and producer Brad Pitt was cleared of child abuse allegations on Wednesday, November 9. Allegations against the Hollywood star originated from a September 14 incident reported by Angelina Jolie between Pitt and one of his children on a private plane. The incident occurred one day before Jolie filed for divorce on September 15.

“Confidentiality laws prohibit us from disclosing the subjects of our investigations and the results of the investigation,” said Amara Suarez of the Department of Children and Family Services Public Affairs office. However, sources familiar with the situation told both TMZ and CNN it would close the investigation pertaining to the aforementioned incident between Pitt and one of his children.

“The case was exhaustively investigated. Social workers interviewed Brad, Angelina (Jolie), the kids and witnesses on the plane. Everyone cooperated in the investigation. No further action will be taken. Brad did not commit child abuse during an argument that ended with physical contact” states TMZ.

Since Jolie filed for divorce, the actress has been holing up in Malibu and Hidden Hills with the couple’s six children Maddox, 15; Pax, 12; Zahara, 11; Shiloh, 10; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8. Jolie is reportedly seeking sole custody of the six children. However, Pitt has filed for joint custody of the children and may have strengthened his case by being cleared of Jolie’s reported allegation.

“Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal,” a representative for Jolie said in a statement.

At the moment, Pitt and Jolie are maintaining an agreement in which Pitt will be able to see his children as part of “therapeutic visits” while they remain in Jolie’s custody throughout the divorce proceedings.
