SANTA MONICARyan Taylor Bright, 27, was convicted Monday, December 22, for the second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his long time friend and roommate Jensen Gray, 27.

In the United States, the difference between a first-degree and a second-degree murder is that the latter is not premeditated or planned in advance.

Bright was convicted of killing Gray, after a party on July 11, 2012.

Police, responding to a report that someone had been stabbed, arrived at the Archestone Santa Monica apartment building located at 425 Broadway to find Gray, lifeless, on the floor with several stab wounds.
