LAS VEGAS, NEVADA—On January 1, at 5:20 p.m., the Las Angeles Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) reported the explosion of a Tesla Cybertruck outside of the Trump International Hotel located in the 2000 block of Fashion Show Drive.
The driver of the cybertruck was the lone fatality in the blast. Seven other individuals were injured.
The following information came directly from the January 1, LVMPD press release.
“At this time, Investigators know that a Tesla Cybertruck was observed driving into the hotel valet[January 1] at 8:30 a.m. Shortly after, the vehicle exploded and caught fire. Detectives found gasoline canisters and large firework mortars in the bed of the truck.
The driver rented the vehicle in Colorado, and [then] arrived in Las Vegas at approximately 7:30 a.m. and drove through the Las Vegas Strip until it reached the hotel where the incident occurred. This is an ongoing joint investigation between the LVMPD and federal partners.”
Multiple investigators are looking into a possible connection between this incident and the November 27, attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana that killed 15 people.
