WOODLAND HILLS—Ahang Mirshojae, 54, and Evan Hardman, 41, have been ordered by a judge to stand trial for the murder of Mirshojae’s ex-husband, as announced on Friday, June 26, and a request to lower bond was denied.
On August 23, 2024, Dr. Hamid Mirshojae was shot and killed outside his medical office in Woodland Hills. The victim was ambushed by a masked gunman as he was approaching his car.
Dr. Mirshojae died from the gunshot. Sweeting allegedly drove Hardman to and from the scene of the crime and Jawed helped facilitate the murder and drove Hardman out of state a few days after the murder. Ahang Mirshojae is accused of hiring Hardman to kill her ex-husband.
A few months prior to the murder, on May 3, Hardman and Jawed allegedly assaulted Dr. Mirshojae with a blunt object.
Sarallah Jawed, 38, with one felony count each of murder, and one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon. Ashley Rose Sweeting, 41, was also charged in the case with one felony count of accessory after the fact (knowledge of crime).
Ahang Mirshojae is accused of hiring Hardman and Jawed to commit that crime as well. Hardman was arrested on December 10, 2024, in Texas and is awaiting extradition.
Prosecutors charged the case with two special circumstance allegations, murder for financial gain and murder while lying in wait, and the judge found sufficient evidence to send both allegations to trial.
Hardman stated to police that Ahang offered him $400,000 to kill her ex-husband. He also claimed that she wanted her ex-husband dead out of jealousy over his new marriage. The District Attorney stated that Mirshojae allegedly committed the crime for financial gain.
Both defendants are due back in court on July 9. If convicted, they could be sentenced to life in state prison without parole. The possibility of charging Mirshojae and Hardman with the death penalty is also a consideration.
