MALIBU—Actor Pierce Brosnan is selling his $100 million oceanfront estate in Malibu. Brosnan has lived in Malibu for over two decades and is planning to relocate primarily to his family’s second home in Kauai, Hawaii.

The land was purchased in 2000, and the home was built over the course of a decade. Brosnan and his wife moved in around 2010. The Orchid House, as it is called, is a 12,500 square foot, Thailand inspired oceanfront mansion.

Brosnan has said that decades of dodging wildfires, worrying about earthquakes, and shelling out a fortune to maintain the property motivated him to finally part ways with the estate.

In an interview with The Times of London, Brosnan stated, “We’ve been spared by the fires a few times now. But I think it’s time to move. Everything changes; everything falls apart… We live by this body of earth’s water on a fault in a ring of earthquakes. That creates a fear.” He also said he has taken certain acting jobs in order to cover the cost of maintaining the home.

The family’s home on the North Shore of Kauai is private oceanfront estate. It sits right on the coastline at Tunnels Beach, offering a quieter, more secluded lifestyle compared to Malibu. Bronsan is known for his appearances in the James Bond films “Tomorrow Never Dies,” “GoldenEye,” “The World is Not Enough,” “Die Another Day,” as well as the films “The Thomas Crown Affair,” “Dante’s Peak,” “Giant” and “Black Bag.”
