WASHINGTON D.C.— The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Washington Nationals in a dramatic Game 5. One important key player of the game was Kenley Jansen who struck out Trea Turner and walked Bryce Harper. He stalled the game just in time for Clayton Kershaw to come in during the ninth inning. Jansen registered 51 pitches.
The Dodgers started the game with pitcher Richard Hill, who inevitably gave up one run in the first 2 innings.
With the odds in the Nationals favor, it was a long night for Dodger fans watching at home. The Nationals were on their way to take Game 5 until the Dodgers capitalized with four runs in the seventh inning thanks to Joc Pederson and Justin Turner.
The tension escalated when in the eighth inning Chris Heisey pulled 2 runs which left the Nationals just one run behind the Dodgers.
Clayton Kershaw, the hero of the game, came on during the ninth inning after being reports surfaced he would be unavailable for Thursday’s game. Kershaw sealed the win with seven pitches and struck out Daniel Murphy and Wilmer Difo. The Dodgers close out the series against the Nationals, 3-2, with a final score of 4-3.
The Dodgers will start Game 1 of the NCLS in Chicago on Saturday, October 15 at Wrigley Field.
