SANTA MONICA—The Michelle Danner Acting School will be holding acting and film summer camps for children ages 5-18 beginning June 27 and running through the end of August. Canyon News spoke with Alexandra Guanieri from The Michelle Danner Acting School to find out more about these creative camps for kids.

The summer camps for kids have been held by The Michelle Danner Acting School for the last six years with the new addition of a film summer camp this year, Guarnieri said. The camps are only accepting 10 kids per session with each session lasting one week long.

The camps help kids explore acting, improvisation and film making and offer a professional program for kids who know they want to pursue these things as a career. “Good for kids that are creative and it is a good outlet for them,” said Guarnieri.

The Acting and Improv Summer Camp is focused on acting and improvisation by incorporating such activities like the Improv Workout, Auditioning for Film and TV on Camera, Scene Study, and Voice Intensive.

Guarnieri said the Film Summer Camp involves learning the writing, directing and producing aspects of creating a movie. Kids will write their own original shorts or pick a short to work on, and receive guidance on taking the movie from page to screen.

The Michelle Danner Acting School has been around for 16 years, Guarnieri told Canyon News, and Michelle Danner is a director and acting coach in Hollywood with over 24 years of experience. Her acting school has year-long classes for both kids and adults using her Golden Box technique.

Some of these classes include Audition for the Camera, Film Classes, Voice and Speech, Script Analysis, Breaking into the Industry, the Business of Acting, and Musical Theater. Danner has worked with a number of A-list celebrities including James Franco, Salma Hayek, Seth MacFarlane and Zooey Deschanel.

She has also directed a number of films including “Hello Herman” starring Norman Reedus. Her most recent film is “The Bandit Hound” starring Catherine Bell and Lou Ferrigno. Her book “The Golden Box” is set to release in 2017.
