HOLLYWOOD—The much anticipated “American Idol” will begin on January 12, 2011, on Fox with new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez and without our beloved Simon Cowell. Will “American Idol” survive without Simon? The lineup of judges will be missing not only Simon Cowell, but also Kara DioGuardi and Ellen Degeneres. There were so many rumors circulating after Simon Cowell announced his departure, that finally we all know that Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and Jennifer Lopez are the new judges. It will be interesting to see if the chemistry of these judges along with original judge Randy Jackson will hit it off. “American Idol” has brought us Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert and Jordin Sparks.

We bumped into 2007 “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks on November 11, who threw her musical hat into the celebrity ring when she made a special appearance at a retail store “Dots.” She launched her first perfume “Because of You.” The perfume was named and dedicated to her fans. Her scent has a touch of a fruity, floral smell with a dash of orange blossom along with amber and orchid. Sparks joined forces with the retail store “Dots” to bring her fans an affordable yet attractive perfume line. You can actually buy a purse size “Because of You” perfume for $5. The gift set perfume with body lotion sells for $11.50. No misprint here. In a very quick meet and greet, we asked Jordin a few questions.

Q: “What are your plans after Broadway?”

A: “Home, that’s all I want to do, is go home.”

Sparks joined the cast of Tony Award-winning “In the Heights” back on August 19, for a 12-week Broadway debut engagement that lasted until November 14. She has been very successful in her music career as well as with her hit singles “One Step at a Time,” “No Air” and “Tattoo.” Her sophomore album “Battlefield” has made her a platinum-selling artist.

So many celebrities just love to be a part of Broadway. Some of the current hit Broadway shows are “Memphis” and “Million Dollar Quartet.” The ”Million Dollar Quartet” takes you back to 1956 when rock n’ roll royalty came together in one room, for one unforgettable recording session. Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins jammed together at the now famous Memphis Sun Records. A definite night of rock history. Another Broadway sensation is “Memphis,” a 1950s rock n’ roll musical by Joe DiPietro and Bon Jovi’s David Bryan.

Rose’s Scoop: Once again, jewelers are working overtime to design a duplicate of Princess Diana’s oval sapphire engagement ring since Prince William popped the question to Kate Middleton with his mother”˜s ring.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving Day!
