BURBANK—Fitness model and Bravo TV reality star Greg Plitt was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Burbank on Saturday, January 17. He was 37. Police confirmed that the time of death was around 4:05 p.m.
Plitt was born in Baltimore, Marlyland. He served five years in the Army after graduating from West Point, according to IMDB.
Plitt, whose real name is George, was being filmed with two other people on the train tracks. Witnesses say Plitt was holding a video camera when the accident happened.
Burbank police say he was not trying to take his own life, but that he may have misjudged the speed of the oncoming train. His death was later ruled as a suicide attempt.
Back in 2013, he filmed a fitness video on railroad tracks doing push-ups. He was also shown lifting a weighted barbell while standing on train tracks and later performing box jumps as a Metrolink train passed behind him.
Plitt was best known for Bravo’s reality series “Work Out.” He appeared on TV shows such as “Friends to Lovers,” and the soap opera “Days of Our Lives.” He also appeared in the movies “Terminator: Salvation” and “Grudge Match.”
He was known for modeling. He made the cover of more than 250 fitness magazines just within the last eight years, while being sponsored by several fitness companies.
Bravo sent out their condolences over Twitter. “This is a terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with Greg Plitt’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
MET-Rx, the nutritional-supplement company that sponsored Greg tweeted: “With profound sorrow, we acknowledge that the world has lost a true inspiration.” “You will be remembered, and forever missed, @GregPlitt.”
Police are still investigating the death of the model and actor. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information related to the accident is asked to contact Burbank Police Detective Michael Edwards at (818) 238-3264.
