SAN FRANCISCO—On June 11, the San Francisco Police Department posted video of the May 29 arrest of two of the three suspects wanted for a smash-and-grab robbery that took place at the end of last month at a Bay Area trading card store.
“On May 29, 2026, Officers assigned to the Real Time Investigation Center (RTIC) utilized FLOCK and notified Citywide Plainclothes officers that the suspect vehicle was located near the area of Van Ness Ave and Mission Street. Officers assigned to Drone First Responders (DFR) surveilled the vehicle, watching the occupants exit the car near the area of O’Farrell and Polk Streets. Members assigned to the Citywide Plainclothes team-maintained surveillance and identified the occupants as suspects in the robbery.
The officers formulated a plan and safely took the suspects into custody. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the two juvenile male suspects. The juveniles were booked into the Juvenile Justice Center for 2nd degree robbery (211PC) and conspiracy (182(a)(1) PC). Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located possible evidence pertaining to the robbery, which was seized as evidence. The vehicle was also towed from the scene. On May 30th, Robbery Detail investigators, with the assistance of the Citywide Plainclothes team, conducted a search warrant for the suspect’s residence while identifying themselves as SFPD officers, wearing police insignia and body-worn cameras (BWC). Additional evidence pertaining to the robbery was located inside the residence and seized as evidence.”
The arrest and detention of juvenile suspects were wanted for the May 28 robbery at The Card Store in Brentwood. Footage captured three men dressed in black hoodies, black pants, and wearing black masks approaching the sales counter at The Card Lab is located at 420 Beatrice Ct. Robbers jumped over the counter with their backs to the camera and broke into the display cases and stole rare and collectible Pokémon cards with an estimated value of $15,000.
The incident took less than a minute’s time and escaped in a Nissan Altima. Owner of The Card Lab, Ronnie Hackett, spoke to reporters indicating the store manager was there at the time of the burglary, but upstairs.
“My first thought was, I hope that my employee was okay, and I was relieved to see that she was. And then, I also just kind of wanted to see what damage was done. I’m relieved that she [the employee] was upstairs at the time. I’m relieved that she was not downstairs because that could have been way worse. But she was upstairs doing our end of the day protocol,” stated Hackett.
The establishment will be temporarily closed to install better security. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444(opens in a new window) or Text-A-Tip to TIP411, beginning your message with SFPD.
