WASHINGTON D.C.—On Friday, June 6, the U.S. Senate passed Senate Bill 2, the Secure America Act, with a 52-47 vote. All Senate Democrats and a lone Republican, Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), voted against the $70 billion bill to fully fund Customs and Border Protection(CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents for the next three years.

President Trump will now sign Senate Bill 2 into law. It funds over $38 Billion to ICE, $26 to CBP, and $5 billion for operational costs. The bill ensures government funding of these agencies through 2029.

The Bill narrowly passed the U.S. House of Representatives with a 214-212 vote.

Senator Murkowski defended her decision to vote against party lines on her X social media page.

“While I support funding to secure borders and protect the homeland, I do not support bypassing the annual appropriations process by providing funding for multiple years in a manner that diminishes congressional direction and oversight.”

Now that the U.S. Senate has voted to fund U.S. Border Security, the next issue at hand is a matter of U.S. Intelligence.

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, FISA 702 (2026), is due to expire on June 12th. U.S. Senate Majority Leader warns that without bipartisan support, this bill may not be passed it could leave the U.S. completely vulnerable.

FISA 702 is temporarily in effect while legislators continue to debate the process of gathering intelligence.

U.S. Intelligence explains the importance of FISA 702 in detail. It is the security that allows the U.S. Government to have eyes and ears on all fronts and protect U.S. citizens from unforeseen threats. See below.
