HOLLYWOOD—“Teenage Wasteland” was the title of Sunday’s episode. The show seems to be better this season than all previous seasons. Dexpert Bobby Head tells Canyon News, “I feel as if I’m about to have a heart attack during many of the scenes. Sunday night was exciting, exhilarating and unforgettable. I am a huge fan of the Dexter/Lumen pairing. She is a great match for Dexter. Michael C. Hall deserves an Emmy for this season’s performance.”

Dexter’s stepdaughter Astor and a friend broke into Dexter’s home, but Lumen thought that the men who tortured and raped her were in fact breaking in. When the two girls came into the house, Astor began to interrogate Lumen, and wondered why she was living in her stepfather’s house. Dexter arrived and told his stepdaughter that Lumen is a tenant. Lumen went on with Dexter’s charade, but Astor still believes there was more going on between Lumen and Dexter than either was willing to admit.

Quinn fired Liddy, but not soon enough. The Lt. admitted to Deb that she had given Quinn a suspension, when he was lying to Deb that he was taking time off on his own. Deb confronted Quinn, who admitted that he had been investigating her brother Dexter, when his wife Rita was killed. Quinn also admitted to Deb that he previously believed that Dexter was in fact the notorious serial killer Kyle Butler. She felt totally betrayed by Quinn, who had just told her that he loved her.

Dexter’s hunt for Lumen’s tormentors led him to stalk life coach and guru Jordan Chase. Dexter’s move to get proof of Chase’s part in Lumen’s kidnapping and rape landed him in the position of the hunter’s prey. By the end of the episode, Jordan called Dexter’s home and told Lumen that he would kill Dexter. Julia Stiles was excellent during that final and extremely chilling scene.

Dexter was preoccupied with taking his stepdaughter Astor back to her grandparents’ home in Orlando. He also attacked and threatened to kill Astor’s best friend’s father, who had been abusing her. Dexpert Angie B. Goode said, “The show just keeps getting better and better.” While Chris Doughty said, “That was an awesome episode. I can’t wait until next week. It gets better every week.”

“It’s really cool how Dexter is allowing himself to show feelings more this season. You can see it in his eyes, more and more,” said Amy Bishop. “Dexter” continues to shock the audience, which is almost impossible for a show in its fifth season. Michael C. Hall’s Emmy-winning performance just continues to get better with time. Julia Stiles is excellent in this role, and the writing is superb. The hunt for Jordan Chase has become a major twist, with Dexter now being the one hunted by a serial killer. Fans are excited about next week’s episode.

“Dexter” airs on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
