OCEANSIDE—The Deaf Women United Southern California (DWUSOCAL) Chapter held their ninth annual Family Beach Day on August 16.

According to the event’s Facebook page, a general meeting was held at 2:00 p.m. at the amphitheater seating area. The DWUSOCAL invited members to bring their family, friends and children for fun at the beach before “returning to the grind,” and the impending school season.

According to the DWU homepage, the organization was founded in 1985 and promotes the “lives of Deaf women through empowerment, enrichment, and networking. The goals of the DWU have expanded to include not only acknowledgment and acceptance for the diversity of individual Deaf women, but now include exploring how the experience of being Deaf and being a woman affects our lives.” The event was located at the Oceanside Amphitheater and Pier on 301 Strand North in

Oceanside, CA.
