LOS ANGELES—Eljin Jermaul Holt, 28, has been prohibited from owning or being around an animal for a period of 10 years after he abused Indie his 3-month-old puppy back in November 2016, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday, October 25.

Holt pleaded no contest on September 18, 2017, to one felony count of cruelty to an animal and one misdemeanor count of cruelty to an animal. Holt yanked the animal causing the puppy to bleed.

Felony charges were withdrawn and dismissed in Holt’s case after he completed two months of community service and completed a class for the prevention of animal cruelty.

Holt was  placed on probation for three years.

The LADA sent an email to Canyon News indicating the defendant’s case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kevin Liu and Investigated by the Society For The Prevention of Cruelty To Animals Los Angeles.
